morning of the letting go

Morning of the Letting Go
by rachel snyder

Grandmother speaks
Listen!
Open to words unspoken
The silent voicing of ten thousand tongues,
She speaks no language
So all may hear
All may know.

Grandmother speaks
Listen!
No greater change Mother Earth shall know
Than the shifting of one human heart
No inner rumbling, deep volcano
Tidal wave of glacial ices
Rivers swelled with blood of nations
Blackened sky from mans great fires,
All pale beside the hearts rejoicing
Sudden jolt of true connecting
Open gates, let forth the waves
Of crystal waters, cleansing rain.

Grandmother knows
Remember
Your knowings, too!
The tender breath of sleeping fawn
The clear pale hues of morning dawn
Splashed broad across the mesa.
O Thanks, Sweet One, for softened clay
For hands that shape Grandfathers bowl
For arms that sweep the dance floor clear
For bellies, pressed to grass, to stone, to tree,
To skin, to belly warm.

Grandmother whispers
Quiet!
The hearing is the being
Where shifting forms dance shadows
On a cavern wall
In dark triangles moss grows heavy
Sheerest shard of light, of life
Let go, let go
Let go, let go
Bear waits to dance
To swim in honey,
Roll in meadows flecked by flower, herb and bee
To roar a song too long forgotten
Simply Bear to be.

Grandmother sings
Now join her!
In cold, dark north where death takes life
With no attachment to creation
To spin again the wheel
It turns
Toward sun’s first greeting
Life’s new dawn,
Soft deer runs swift
‘Cross autumn’s meadow
Approaching Home with bounding joy
And overhead Hawk circles round
As wing-ed beings fill the sky.

Upon the Earth Grandmother waits
To speak
To know
To listen
Sing!
Her heart is heavy,
Her only want
To know if we are listening.

When healthy wood at feet is lain
And wings unleashed
And with them pain
Of many long remembered days
Of speaking with no listening,
Then I shall know the story
And I shall live the truth
And you shall know the ancient heart
And you shall live the truth
And we shall know The All, The One
The rainbow bridge
Grandmother’s web

And we are now the All, the One

And Now we are the Truth.

  1. I am just fascinated by the words, such a
sweet story of our world of wonder.
However, I would like to know Your interpretation and what it means to you..;) I feel that it may be associated with the loss of a mentor also.

Regardless it is a Beautiful read…;)

    Roy,

Not surprisingly, your comment is already inspiring a complete blog post on the subject. Still percolating; it will take a while to gel and then post. Within 12 hours or so, most likely.

Your sense of the loss of a mentor fascinates me! In many ways, the piece is about each of us realizing that we ARE the mentors and the healers and the warriors and the leaders and the wise ones. Way before politics co-opted the line, “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” (without proper respect to the Native elders who have been saying this for a long time), many of us had an inkling. So, in one respect, our commonly held vision of a mentor or teacher or guru who will come and guide us everywhere we need to go — is dying away. Perhaps that’s what you’re tuned into.

There are huge shifts going on in human evolution right now. Enormous recalibrations around everything: spirituality, consciousness, politics, economics, science & more. I know it sounds cliched, but truly, we can all now mentor ourselves from within. In fact, some would say it’s pretty much required. However, to do so, we must all listen, remember, sing, speak, know (with a capital K). There are many who will assist us along the way, point us in the right direction, if we are paying attention.

With a name like outdoors2, perhaps you have an innate sense that everything we need at every level, can be found in Nature’s arms? Let Mother Earth mentor you and in time, you’ll Know everything you need to Know. You Know?

Thanks for the question and the kind words. More later…

How in the world did I miss this Rachel…it speaks to my very core!!!

The Spirit of Grandmother is ever round me and I radiantly wear the shawl of ‘All of Her Energies.’ There is comfort and peace there, and the ‘knowing.’ The harsh energies of September gone and now replaced with the going in the Womb, The Cave, once again. Tis where it is safe, warm, intuitive and full of passion and learning. Hah! If I could but stay there indefinitely. :)

What a supreme heartsong….and I will point brothers and sisters this way!

Dearest Rachel…thank you for this poem and for the one…on Patience…that I opened at 2 AM…the beauty of That read through tears. Your answer to Roy (above) is another ‘post’…”There are huge shifts going on in human evolution right now. Thanking you from the bottom of this heart… Love,
