Ancestral Gathering I, Judith Shaw, oil on canvas

poetry without words (audio 1:27)

May 11, 2013 by rachel

I have carried this song in my heart for more than 10 years. It came to me on a Labyrinth I walked for healing after a rollover car crash and subsequent mild traumatic brain injury. It always feels like Home to me. The painting by artist Judith Shaw feels like Home, too.

prayer for radical courage

February 16, 2013 by rachel

in all things, may i travel unarmored and unafraid, settled into a quiet cradle whose gentle sway bears the mark of the mother’s hand let my mind be emptied of false truths and accusations stripped free of nagging encumbrance my essence naked and alive in original, unswaddled glory if i am called to a gate that refuses to open, let me turn peaceably in another direction and be piloted by the stars that illumine my oft-weary soul if the storms […]

i will: vow for the unbound (classic)

December 19, 2012 by rachel

I first wrote and posted this in February 2010. i will live a life without limitation ~ or i will not live at all i will love without restraint and eschew anyone else’s small cobbled version of love ~ or i will not love at all i will choose to be awake in every moment aware of every possibility conspicuously driven by an impeccable conviction of the heart ~ or I will lay myself down in a meadow of columbine […]

love is gonna get you (singer-songwriter Matthew Andrae video 3:20)

December 17, 2012 by rachel

I never thought that my lifetimes of healing, my years and years of digging deep and releasing, my commitment to service, my twisting and gnarling and gloriously torturous path, and my unwavering trust in Divinity… …would lead me, in the days and weeks running up to the Great Shift of The Ages, smack-dab into retail! Yet here we are and here I am, unable for months to delve into my poetry or move forward (for now) with the Words Divinely […]

when only wings remain

December 9, 2012 by rachel

The energies are settling, so (not surprisingly), today’s poem presented itself in rhyming form after being inspired by this backyard photo. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you a bit more about what I have been up to for five weeks. Stay true, stay clear, my precious friend. Pray tell! What seer doth divine In soggy tea leaves, curdled wine These ancient rhythms pulse, now bore In loosening of the golden cord ~ A harlot, a jackass, a tune unsounded The tale of […]

personal declaration of radical responsibility

November 2, 2012 by rachel

for everything now fallen away i bear responsibility for every delicious return to the table of earthly delights every soul-numbing morsel of dispossession inhaled, imbibed, every dark and slithery corner into which i stumbled and every moonlit mesa i traveled in the company of the all-knowing sky, i tell you now that i held the key, i turned the lock, and this I lay at the feet of no one save myself if I was led astray by so-called inner […]

are we too attached to the idea of non-attachment?

October 31, 2012 by rachel

I freely admit it. For all of our talk about non-attachment, I would love to receive notes from “Finders” who have been touched by our poetic offerings. One of our poetry emissaries sent me a most evocative rumination on this topic. I share it with permission and with great respect for the honesty and consciousness portrayed therein. You will understand why this person has no wish in being identified in any way. “I had the idea to leave the poem […]

October 8, 2012 by rachel

Yes, I’m talking about the Words Divinely Wrought Global Poetry-Share… …and Yes, I’m talking about each of us who has chosen the oft-arduous, frequently frustrating path of awakening/ascension during this pivotal time in the evolution of humanity. First, poetry. I offered up the invitation for Words Divinely Wrought participants in this post on August 5. Since then, 20 people have joined our adventure and poems have been placed in Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, California, Oregon, and Virginia in the US; […]

at notre dame cathedral in paris, a poem quietly sits and waits

September 28, 2012 by rachel

“At last a poem has found a place in Paris!” So writes Christine Whitelaw of New South Wales, Australia, who has now stamped Notre Dame Cathedral in her Words Divinely Wrought Poetry Passport. Once again, the featured poem is Prayer for Inclusion. Christine writes, ” I walked with the usual crowd into the cathedral this afternoon, shuffling along …. until we reached my favourite part. …. a statue of Mary and Child that always has a wonderful vase of white […]

Twenty individuals have joined our global poetry-share community so far, and only one of them is a male. That’s why I was particularly delighted to receive an update from Doug in Ontario. His blog, Valley Road Rambler, carries the subhead, “life, love, loss, and a whole lotta soul,” and I guarantee you his truth in advertising is impeccable. Here’s a synopsis; you can read his entire Words Divinely Wrought story right over here. “Mine was one of the first packages […]

September 7, 2012 by rachel

In August, German-born, English-passported, self-identified new Peruvian gringa and poem faery Rose Mary Boehm sent me this message:  “I received your URL from a friend in London. We are on the same wavelength as you. I immediately read what you had to say and was keen to be a part of the beautiful enterprise. But after reading how this is to be carried out I have two very important doubts of a rather more mundane nature: In Peru most mail […]

While I finish up the latest update on the Words Divinely Wrought Global Poetry-Share, here’s a comforting dose of balance, calm, and wisdom from Lee Harris. I love his no-nonsense, quiet, intelligent way of speaking about the larger energies that are now affecting everyone, albeit in different ways. “you just don’t know the stories these poems will tell…”

September 1, 2012 by rachel

Here’s our latest update, from Julie Mitchell in central California, USA. “Well, I parted with the first poem… yes, I’ve decided to tuck them both.  I’m not sure why I chose the cemetery and its little church. It just felt right to place You are the Prayer there.   “It was a beautiful day today.  I parked in front of the church and went in. August 24, 2012 by rachel

The Poetry has landed in two more locations! A bit ago, SS of Ontario shared with me the guidance that came to her while she slept: “…in my dreams last night I saw myself place one of the poems on a chair in the sunshine at an old age home. I hadn’t even thought of that possibility before…” And today, I received this current report, along with the picture below. “I went for a run early yesterday morning with ‘This […]

our first poetic offering has found its way out into the world!

August 22, 2012 by rachel

Although we do not yet have 33 people signed up for our global poetry-share, I am removing the “sticky” post from the top of the page. It began to feel a bit stale, so that particular post has moved back down to its rightful (chronological) position. Today’s update comes from JP in the UK, who you may recall, is part of a trio of energy workers traveling to various sites. Seems they spent a long day in Glastonbury and released […]

touching and helping people we have never met

August 15, 2012 by rachel

Today, more inspiration  from the gently expanding “Words Divinely Wrought” community of poetry-sharers. I continue to be bowled over by the hearts who have found their way here, and assure you that every word, every comment, touches me deeply. I have been somewhat solitary for a long time, and, like others here, this undertaking (funny that word is usually associated with death) is connecting me with people who instantly feel like family. And for that, I am grateful. If this […]

this is what divine collaboration looks like

August 13, 2012 by rachel

Some of the initial participants in the global poetry-share have begun to send in photos so the rest of us can see what’s going on. JM of California took a photo of the two poems she received in her packet (which, by the way, also includes one of my square, teal “calling” cards and a note from yours truly). She writes: Hi Dear Rachel….I picked my packet of poems up yesterday on my way to an artist gathering… I opened […]

peel back a few layers and jump in!

August 12, 2012 by rachel

Without even commenting on the vibrancy of the colors, here’s what I love about this painting by San Diego artist Janet McCarty — who (btw) I am so happy and proud to call my friend: According to the artist, she applied layer upon layer of paint, and then scratched through them to reveal some of the “subterranean” layers lurking beneath the surface. Need I say more? If you’ve been around this blog for more than about 43 seconds, you know […]

(poetry) to russia with love — virginia and california (two)

August 8, 2012 by rachel

Four more poetry packages have gone out: one to southern California, one to central California, one to Virginia, and one to Moscow, Russia, birthplace of featured artist Vasily Kandinsky (1866-1944). EP from Moscow sent this greeting: Dear Rachel, thank you for the lovely idea of spreading your words around the world. I’ll be happy to be a part of it. Though in Russia not so many people are good in English, I’m sure to find some places where it’ll reach […]

This painting is "Women Sowing Seeds" by an unknown Bengali artist. I found it on Kamat's Potpourri, a personal website of all things India, described by the family that runs the website as "There's no Bollywood, no politics, no cricket (well, we have a picture), no Taj Mahal, no weather, no stocks. Just the studies of two students of life." The website reports that an American journalist once declared Kamat's Potpourri as "India's most low-tech site." Not until 2006 did the webmasters begin using a computer to to type and scan in the countless pictures.

first poetry packages sent to america, canada, england, and australia: join us!

August 6, 2012 by rachel

The energy started moving quickly yesterday after I posted the details of the (ahem) Global Poetry Party of the Heart. The perfect moniker for our divinely collaborative undertaking has not yet presented itself, so I’ll be trying on various names until we get the perfect fit. Today, the first six poetry packages went out via snail mail. Three are headed to addresses within the US (2 to Pennsylvania and 1 to New York); one is headed toward Ontario, Canada; one […]

let’s spread faith, joy, forgiveness & compassion to a fractured world — one poem at a time

August 3, 2012 by rachel

And now, the story continues… In the post that appears just prior to this one, I began to share a tale of divine synchronicity. After Laura D contacted me to share her experience at the Labyrinth at New York City’s Battery Park, I responded with my own experience during the same time period. It was time for my creative work to take flight and I had asked for guidance. The blockages and limitations of the past — be they real […]

The New Face of "Be Whole Now"

will you join me in shifting the heart of the world?

August 1, 2012 by rachel

First, a tale of sacred synchronicity: When I went to New York City in mid-July, both my poetry and I were very well received. I knew without question I was in the right place at the right time, doing exactly the right thing. Shifting easily into the city vibe, my Inner Urban Easterner came out to play and I gobbled up every possible sensation. Yum! On my last evening with my divine hostess Jane, my mouth opened and asked, “Are […]

Back from New York City (and Santa Fe as well), I am awash with new creative ideas, new possibilities, and a relentless tug to reorder my priorities and refashion my very existence yet again. *sighs, rolls eyes* An invitation for you to participate more fully than ever before is simmering – but in the meantime, this piece muscled its way to the front of the line. i know that you are feeling unglued that nothing (nothing!) fits anymore and the […]

and now i am left with nothing but the truth that my only constant has been a willingness to stand naked and alone my sole virtue laid bare on life’s platter, borne of a lingering sense that there is more to this holy dance than the steady chock of the metronome my own beating heart, frangible though it may be has echoed beyond time in a rapturous calypso, flooding my ears with birdsong melody and the night cry of the […]

the most astounding thing (astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, video 3:33)

April 3, 2012 by rachel

Astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson was asked by a reader of TIME magazine, “What is the most astounding fact you can share with us about the Universe?” This is his answer.  Thank you to MaxSchlick for uploading this video, and thank you to http://www.the2012scenario.com  for pointing me to this gem. This piece has appeared here twice, first on 2/09/2009. I newly discovered the image of Mud People at the crystalinks.com site, along with a very readable synopsis of the Mayan Popol Vuh creation myths. “…in defiance of self- consciousness…big, bold, and outright.”

"(Rachel) practices a doctrine of fearlessness. A self-taught poet, she is mesmerized by the way words seem to take on a life of their own (and) ...she strives to “be the instrument” for expression. Her willingness to acknowledge and to submit to the power of language comes across in the litany-like form of her long, intentionally inspirational poems, in the way she returns to such phrases as “Forgive me” (“Prayer for Radical Forgiveness”), “It’s that easy,” or “I will” (“Vow for the Unbound”). Written in defiance of self-consciousness, Snyder’s prayerful poems were big, bold, and outright. " Anne Lovering Rounds for Bryant Park Blog
