"You Are The Prayer" in its first position in the Vondelpark willow in Amsterdam.

in amsterdam’s vondelpark, a poetic prayer stars in a video, climbs a tree and takes a swim

August 31, 2012 by rachel

The Words Divinely Wrought adventure continues in Amsterdam, where Simonetta went above and beyond — planting You Are The Prayer in the crook of a voluptuous willow tree, returning later to find the poem drifting in a nearby pond, and finally earthing it at the base of the tree. “I ventured in Vondelpark the other day as soon as the sun decided to come back and offer us the illusion of yet another summer day,” writes Simonetta. “…I decided to […]

avast, me boys! another poem sails into the harbor in the uk

August 30, 2012 by rachel

JP of the UK has struck again! Here’s her communique from last week: “Today I went into Oxford to meet my son for lunch. He teaches English to foreign students. I told him and his colleague about WDW and asked them if they had any suggestions for a venue. MOMA (originally Museum of Modern Art, now known as Modern Art Oxford) was suggested; Jon chose the poem. He went for ‘rhyme of an ancient mariner’ because Coleridge’s ‘version’ :-) is one […]

connecting with others can heal every wound, every time

August 27, 2012 by rachel

For a time, I wondered if our poetry project was selfish. After all, it is about spreading my poetry into the world according to my vision, given to me via my interpretation of my personal wisdom. At the core, I am asking others – most often, complete strangers – to think about my art and take time from their lives to tuck my poems into interesting and inspired places where perhaps other strangers will find – wait, wait, here it […]

from peru and italy (via the netherlands), poetry of the heart transcends language

August 25, 2012 by rachel

Words Divinely Wrought is becoming truly global. At the core of our Words Divinely Wrought Global Poetry-Share is the desire to bring inspired words to those who yearn to hear them. Naturally, that means going beyond English — the language in which the poems were written. In a recent Comment, RB in Peru reports that she has translated poems into Spanish and they are now in a final proofreading phase. When ready, they will be “released” in Lima. And here […]

poetry now placed in the united states and canada

August 24, 2012 by rachel

The Poetry has landed in two more locations! A bit ago, SS of Ontario shared with me the guidance that came to her while she slept: “…in my dreams last night I saw myself place one of the poems on a chair in the sunshine at an old age home. I hadn’t even thought of that possibility before…” And today, I received this current report, along with the picture below. “I went for a run early yesterday morning with ‘This […]

our first poetic offering has found its way out into the world!

August 22, 2012 by rachel

Although we do not yet have 33 people signed up for our global poetry-share, I am removing the “sticky” post from the top of the page. It began to feel a bit stale, so that particular post has moved back down to its rightful (chronological) position. Today’s update comes from JP in the UK, who you may recall, is part of a trio of energy workers traveling to various sites. Seems they spent a long day in Glastonbury and released […]

allowing ourselves to be carried to new and unexpected places

August 18, 2012 by rachel

When JM of Oregon commented here that she had received her Words Divinely Wrought packet, she waxed poetic (ahem) about the white envelope, the contents therein, and her excitement as she and the poems wait for just the right moment to head out into the world. These two sentences from JM truly struck to the heart of the matter: “I am impressed to say that that envelope is full to the brim with the most amazing expansive energy! I suspect […]

i suppose we are here for each other: again and always

August 17, 2012 by rachel

Something gentle for today. Soothing. I first posted this poem here in October 2011 with a different image. I’ll be back soon with the latest update on the Words Divinely Wrought global poetry-share. I suppose I am here for you, to hold your hand in mine and in the other, an outstretched lantern penetrates a narrow causeway And so gingerly together we take each step toes probing the darkness anticipating a slipslide of all we have believed is solid all […]

touching and helping people we have never met

August 15, 2012 by rachel

Today, more inspiration  from the gently expanding “Words Divinely Wrought” community of poetry-sharers. I continue to be bowled over by the hearts who have found their way here, and assure you that every word, every comment, touches me deeply. I have been somewhat solitary for a long time, and, like others here, this undertaking (funny that word is usually associated with death) is connecting me with people who instantly feel like family. And for that, I am grateful. If this […]

this is what divine collaboration looks like

August 13, 2012 by rachel

Some of the initial participants in the global poetry-share have begun to send in photos so the rest of us can see what’s going on. JM of California took a photo of the two poems she received in her packet (which, by the way, also includes one of my square, teal “calling” cards and a note from yours truly). She writes: Hi Dear Rachel….I picked my packet of poems up yesterday on my way to an artist gathering… I opened […]

peel back a few layers and jump in!

August 12, 2012 by rachel

Without even commenting on the vibrancy of the colors, here’s what I love about this painting by San Diego artist Janet McCarty — who (btw) I am so happy and proud to call my friend: According to the artist, she applied layer upon layer of paint, and then scratched through them to reveal some of the “subterranean” layers lurking beneath the surface. Need I say more? If you’ve been around this blog for more than about 43 seconds, you know […]

You can’t make this stuff up, folks! If you have already read this post, you may recall that after walking the labyrinth in New York City’s Battery Park in mid-July, I noticed a woman sitting on a bench, eating lunch. Her presence inspired me to leave two pieces of my poetry beneath a tree. Another woman (Laura D) found the poems the next day, contacted me with her story of sacred synchronicity, and the Words Divinely Wrought poetry-sharing project was […]

if you think this divine undertaking is all about poetry…think again

August 9, 2012 by rachel

If this Words Divinely Wrought initiative had a soundtrack, it would reverberate with the mellifluous sounds of hearts cracking and opening around the planet. My favorite Kiwi and I were brainstorming the concept not so very long ago, and we were both very clear that, first and foremost, this really isn’t about poetry. It’s about allowing yourself to be part of something large, trusting the astonishing efficiency of the Universe, chipping away at boundaries or walls that may have kept […]

(poetry) to russia with love — virginia and california (two)

August 8, 2012 by rachel

Four more poetry packages have gone out: one to southern California, one to central California, one to Virginia, and one to Moscow, Russia, birthplace of featured artist Vasily Kandinsky (1866-1944). EP from Moscow sent this greeting: Dear Rachel, thank you for the lovely idea of spreading your words around the world. I’ll be happy to be a part of it. Though in Russia not so many people are good in English, I’m sure to find some places where it’ll reach […]

This painting is "Women Sowing Seeds" by an unknown Bengali artist. I found it on Kamat's Potpourri, a personal website of all things India, described by the family that runs the website as "There's no Bollywood, no politics, no cricket (well, we have a picture), no Taj Mahal, no weather, no stocks. Just the studies of two students of life." The website reports that an American journalist once declared Kamat's Potpourri as "India's most low-tech site." Not until 2006 did the webmasters begin using a computer to to type and scan in the countless pictures.

first poetry packages sent to america, canada, england, and australia: join us!

August 6, 2012 by rachel

The energy started moving quickly yesterday after I posted the details of the (ahem) Global Poetry Party of the Heart. The perfect moniker for our divinely collaborative undertaking has not yet presented itself, so I’ll be trying on various names until we get the perfect fit. Today, the first six poetry packages went out via snail mail. Three are headed to addresses within the US (2 to Pennsylvania and 1 to New York); one is headed toward Ontario, Canada; one […]

let’s spread faith, joy, forgiveness & compassion to a fractured world — one poem at a time

August 3, 2012 by rachel

And now, the story continues… In the post that appears just prior to this one, I began to share a tale of divine synchronicity. After Laura D contacted me to share her experience at the Labyrinth at New York City’s Battery Park, I responded with my own experience during the same time period. It was time for my creative work to take flight and I had asked for guidance. The blockages and limitations of the past — be they real […]

The New Face of "Be Whole Now"

will you join me in shifting the heart of the world?

August 1, 2012 by rachel

First, a tale of sacred synchronicity: When I went to New York City in mid-July, both my poetry and I were very well received. I knew without question I was in the right place at the right time, doing exactly the right thing. Shifting easily into the city vibe, my Inner Urban Easterner came out to play and I gobbled up every possible sensation. Yum! On my last evening with my divine hostess Jane, my mouth opened and asked, “Are […]

June 29, 2012 by rachel

Sure, I could tell you how the shifting energies on the planet have taken me down, lifted me up, knocked me around, recalibrated me and flooded my beingness with unfathomable light — but why bother? Those of you who know what I’m talking about, well, you already know what I’m talking about. And those who don’t, can learn more about the subject from myriad sources online or off-planet. Take your choice. It’s happening — whatever you feel “It” is. It’s […]

June 20, 2012 by rachel

Remember months ago when I said I would be making changes to this site? Well, after months of slogging through molasses, that time seems to be now. But rather than try on a multitude of versions in the “dressing room” as it were, I’ve decided to tinker out in the open. There are a couple reasons why I suddenly feel inspired to make these changes, and we’ll get to them later. Meanwhile, you might see things come and go quickly. […]

40,000 norwegians respond with love (video; 2:37)

April 27, 2012 by rachel

In Oslo and other sites around Norway, 40,000 people gathered with folksinger Lillebjørn Nilsen and others to raise their voices in love. Standing in the rain, together they sang the 1970s-era peace song, Children of the Rainbow, which had been described as “Marxist propaganda” by a man now on trial for murdering 77 Norwegians, mostly teenagers, last July. According to UK-based Reuters/Guardian, the crowd chose the song because it “extols the type of multicultural society (the accused) has said he […]

March 19, 2012 by rachel

If you have ever felt unloved, judged, bullied, forsaken, or abandoned, it’s safe now to let it go and allow yourself to partake of a greater Love. No need to pin the sentiment on any particular person living here or beyond. The embrace might emanate from nature, from the animal kingdom, from the All-There-Is, the Goddess, Quan Yin, Mother Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, or from a distant star you remember ever so faintly yet so very well. If you prefer, […]

This piece has appeared here twice, first on 2/09/2009. I newly discovered the image of Mud People at the crystalinks.com site, along with a very readable synopsis of the Mayan Popol Vuh creation myths. letting go: a trilogy of offerings to ease your way through grief and loss

March 13, 2012 by rachel

So many of us seem to be navigating through grief and loss these days. It might be the loss (or impending loss) of people and other living beings. It might be that we are releasing old dreams and pictures of how we expected our lives could have, might have, would have, certainly should have looked by now. It may be that we are grieving past pains and suffering and loneliness and a lingering sense of alienation — all having outlived […]

March 6, 2012 by rachel

Nine years ago last month, my life turned upside down and inside out when I rolled my trusty Jeep Cherokee in the desert of south central Utah. Some would label it an “accident,” but I knew better then and I know even better now. No accident. Perfect timing. Invitation to go Home politely declined. Yet another evolutionary growth opportunity in which I was stripped of just about everything and everyone that supposedly mattered. While my body tumbled over and over […]

“…in defiance of self- consciousness…big, bold, and outright.”

"(Rachel) practices a doctrine of fearlessness. A self-taught poet, she is mesmerized by the way words seem to take on a life of their own (and) ...she strives to “be the instrument” for expression. Her willingness to acknowledge and to submit to the power of language comes across in the litany-like form of her long, intentionally inspirational poems, in the way she returns to such phrases as “Forgive me” (“Prayer for Radical Forgiveness”), “It’s that easy,” or “I will” (“Vow for the Unbound”). Written in defiance of self-consciousness, Snyder’s prayerful poems were big, bold, and outright. " Anne Lovering Rounds for Bryant Park Blog
